What was the normal human diet in 997 AD?

In ancient times, humans underwent a shift to a more agricultural and farming-based lifestyle. This led to the development of the modern human diet and other agricultural changes. The Medieval diet consisted of breads, porridge, vegetables, fruits, dairy products, meat and fish.

Humans ate more vegetables than meat in ancient times. In the year 997 AD, the normal human diet consisted of rye, barley, wheat, oats, honey, vegetables and fruit that was locally grown. People would hunt for game in addition to these food items. There wasn't much cooking because it took too long and there weren't many ovens. People didn't eat much meat or dairy products.

Before Christ’s birth, people in those days ate mainly grains, vegetables and fruits. They also hunted and gathered meat and fish. In 997 AD, the human diet hadn’t changed much from what it was in ancient times.
